Papers of Carl Sandburg [manuscript] 1904-1968.

The collection consists chiefly of correspondence and papers pertinent to Sandburg's friendship with Philip Green Wright. The collection includes manuscripts of "The average man," "In reckless ecstasy," and a foreward to Philip Green Wright's "Dial of the heart" as well as a manuscript for Quiincy Wright's "Carl Sandburg." The great majority of the letters are from Sandburg to Wright. Other correspondents or recipients include George Adda, Frederick Dickinson, Leslie Dunlap, Lee Fairchild, Elbert Hubbard, Alan Jenkins, Dumas Malone, Catherine McCarthy, Herbert Mitgang, Warren Morris, Thomas Bird Mosher, Ralph Newman, Harry Pratt, William Sutton, John Weigel, and Quincy Wright. The collection also contains photographs of Sandburg and Frederick Dickinson, and various clippings, pamphlets and programs.
